Artist: The Ataris
Song Title: The Last Song I Ever Write About A Girl

Tabbed by Richard McCulloch on 19/04/02, updated 21/04/02

This song kicks ass! The intro and verse are definitely
100% correct, and the chorus/interlude part sounds ok
when you play along with the cd, though there may be a
powerchord or two missing from there. Sorry if there is,
but if you spot something like this, PLEASE e-mail me
so I can fix it. My address is at the end of this tab

Anyway, enjoy.

CHORDS/LYRICS

MAIN RIFF WITH VERSE POWERCHORDS x 2

F5 C5 C#5 G#5 G
  A broken heart again today

F5 C5 C#5 G#5 G
The flowers that I gave to you have withered all a - way

F5 C5 C#5 G#5 G
Just when I opened up my heart

F5 C5 C#5 G#5 G
The one you used to love came and ripped it right a - part

CHORUS/INTERLUDE

C#5 D#5
Why do I never seem to learn that

C#5 D#5
love is wrong and girls are fucking evil

A#5 C#5
I guess I'll never figure out

A#5 C#5 D#5 E5+
What womankind is all about

MAIN RIFF WITH VERSE POWERCHORDS x 2 [Though the first bar of this
that you play, miss out the F5 at the start, because it's just the
riff on it's own playing here, but then come in with the C5 in the
usual place - listen to the cd if you're unsure what I' talking
about]

VERSE 2

F5 C5 C#5 G#5 G
I heard your voice again today

F5 C5 C#5 G#5 G
I'm scarred by all the lies that were once promises you'd made

F5 C5 C#5 G#5 G
I lie in bed awake at night

    F5 C5 C#5 G#5 G
And wonder what went wrong or even more just what went right

CHORUS/INTERLUDE 2

C#5 D#5
Why do I never seem to learn that

C#5 D#5
love is wrong and girls are fucking evil

A#5 C#5
I guess I'll never figure out

A#5 C#5 D#5 E5+
What womankind is all about

VERSE POWERCHORDS x 2 [This is played the same way as the last time
- by missing out the first F5 powerchord, but instead of having the
riff on its here, the bass plays on its own for that part, until you
come in again on the C5]

Then the outro is pretty shitty to be honest - just a load of
distorted noise and random drum clashes, so my advice to you
if you want to play this song in your band is to make up a
new ending, you'll be all the more talented for it!

ADDITIONAL COMMENT

I've actually just thought now that it would be easier to play the song
in dropped d tuning, as you could play some of the chords with just one
or two fingers instead of three [For those of you who play powerchords
with two fingers, STOP! Playing with three gives you a much fuller sound
and reduces any muting that you might get]. If you want me to explain this
to you in more detail (the bit about playing the song in dropped d), then
mail me at the address below, I'd appreciate the feedback.
