NOW I'M EASY Time: 2/2 (syncopated) Tenor: D Bass: C
- Eric Bogle, on: Now I'm Easy
1 17 4 *
For nearly sixty years, I've been a cocky
1 * 57 *
Of droughts and fires and floods, I've lived through plenty
1 17 4 1
Yes, this country's dust and mud, has seen my tears and blood
* 57 4 1
But it's nearly over now, and now I'm easy___
1 17 4 *
I married a fine girl when I was twenty
1 * 57 *
But she died in giving birth when she was thirty
1 17 4 1
No Flying Doctor then, just a gentle old black gin
* 57 4 1
But it's nearly over now, and now I'm easy___
1 17 4 *
She left me with two sons and a daughter
1 * 57 *
And a bone-dry farm whose soil cried out for water
1 17 4 1
So my care was rough and ready, but they grew up fine and steady
* 57 4 1
But it's nearly over now, and now I'm easy___
1 17 4 *
My daughter married young, and went her own way
1 * 57 *
My sons lie buried by the Burma Railway
1 17 4 1
So on this land I've made my own, I've carried on a-lone
* 57 4 1
But it's nearly over now, and now I'm easy___
City folks, these days, despise the cocky
Say with subsidies and all, we've had it easy
But there's no drought or starving stock, on your sewered suburban block
But it's nearly over now, and now I'm easy
ENDING: REPEAT FIRST VERSE
