THE LORD IS A MONKEY

by the butthole surfers

tabbed by chris lawrence (mustang@islandnet.com)

the guitar on this song sounds like its tuned a bit sharp,
sometimes the chords in the verse sound like F...

Intro riff: (w/ wah-wah)

E--7b--------------X-X-X-X--|
B------9~~---9-----X-X-X-X--|
G--------------7---X-X-X-X--|
D---------------------------|
A---------------------------|
E---------------------------|

Then, the wah-wah guitar plays this chord:

E-----
B-----
G--9--
D--9--
A--7--
E-----

And the 2nd guitar plays a lower E:

E-----
B-----
G-----
D--2--
A--2--
E--0--

Sustain those chords throughout the verses, then go back into the intro riff.

After the 2nd verse, play:

E-----------------------------------------------------------|
B-----------------------------------------------------------|
G--6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-5-5-5-5--|
D--6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-6-5-5-5-5--|
A--4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-4-3-3-3-3--|
E-----------------------------------------------------------|

back to E for third verse.

then just play C# (w/out the change to C). this is followed
by a bass break where the guitars just spew forth noise...

then repeat the C# - C riff

for the 2nd bass break, the right speaker guitar plays:

E----------------------|
B--11b-10-11b-10-11~~--| w/ mucho noize from other guitars...
G----------------------|
D----------------------|
A----------------------|
E----------------------|

then another verse...

At 3:31, there's this riff, which is the same sorta rhythm as the other
one, it stays on the first chord for a long time, then switches briefly:

E-----------------------------------------------------------------|
B-----------------------------------------------------------------|
G-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-13-13-13-13--|
D-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-10-13-13-13-13--|
A--8--8--8--8--8--8--8--8--8--8--8--8--8--8--8--8--8-11-11-11-11--|
E-----------------------------------------------------------------|

Then, another wah-wah riff:

E---------------|
B--11b-11-9~~~--|
G---------------|
D---------------|
A---------------|
E---------------|

then all guitars preach the monkey lord's gospel of white noise.
